Amor mio me llevo tu sonrisa

Bugs

My cats had been scratching themselves a lot these days. When I looked closely at their fur, I found fleas! Yeech. Off they went for a flea bath.

It wasn't before long when I started scratching too. Did I get fleas. hmmm. I did not have cats in my room. It is out of bounds. Could it be something else? I started to surf the net and found this website.

Do check it out. I could not imagine that Bedbugs is a big problem in cities like NY. If it becomes worse the problem could be a public issue. Who knows, the bedbug issue could be the one issue that wins a presidency. Watch out politicians when your marginal constituents are infested with bedbugs.

Tip: Lint remover

Do you have a lint remover? I had been getting a lot of inquiries about this lately. Could our environment be more dusty that lint sticks all over our clothes? Having lots of cats at home, I have always have problems with cat fur sticking to all my clothes. At one time, I when I wore my suite I looked like Chewbacca!

I have 3 types of lint removers:

1- The Big Roller
My personal favourite. I buy this at Jusco. If you are at 1Utama, its at the basement level of the home centre. Its at the laundry equipment and supplies aisle at the back of the store. It looks like a paint roller with a white plastic casing.

2- The small roller
Good for travelling. You can get this at Tesco.

3- The alternative
If I can't get any of the rest, I'll use this. Bought at Giant Hypermart.

Will post photos on the products soon .

Padlocks, grills and locks

How long does it take to cut a padlock and open an iron grill? Give your best guess. 10 minutes? 15 minutes? Half an hour?

60 seconds. I just saw a padlock and iron grill being opened in less than a minute. Just shocking!! It was decent quality padlock and strong iron grill. Howis this possible? The locks were opened by a cutter and a master key. In case you are wondering, this was done legally. The house owner did not have the lock keys.

How vulnerable are our homes? I am sure what is invented by man can be outdone by another man. Security is not an exception. Have more locks? Install a perimeter fencing? Alarm system? Security guards? Is this a solution? I wonder.

Property in KL

We Asians just love our property. I want to share with you an interesting fact. The richest man in the world used to be a Japanese at one time. And what made him wealthy? It was property. This was of course before the Japanese property bubble burst. Now we can't see him in the top 50 of the league table. Where is he?

Despite this fall from glory, property is still considered the best investment in Malaysia. Just how true is this claim? The typical answer would be like this "I bought my house for RM35k more than 30 years ago and now its worth RM500k!" Wow is this for real?

This example happens to be true. Its not an isolated incident. However it did happen when Malaysia's economy grew the most in its post independence history. The question now is, will the Malaysian economy be able to perform as it did? If yes, we can look forward to see those high returns again. If not? hmm...

Go Genting

I was at Genting recently. Its been many years since I was there last. Other than the long trips I had during my childhood, I did have a short one night stay for a company event. Naturally I am confident enough to know what to expect. How much different can it be?

The first surprise I got was how cold it was. It was 15 Celcius in early morning and just a few degrees more the whole day through. I was not prepared, I had just brought with me short sleeve shirts and thought it would be enough. "It can't go lower than 25 degrees" I thought. Gosh, was I wrong.

Genting must be expensive. Thats not that true either. Prices here is slightly higher than in KL. Then so is every other tourist destinations. For food, I had a wide choice from food courts, fast food like KFC, Merrybrown and McDonald's to sit in restaurants. Theres even a Michelin 5 Star chef restaurant! take your pick. I chose to ate lunch at a vegetarian restaurant for only RM25 per person. I had 3 dishes, steamed rice and a pot of Chinese tea. The food was good, I enjoyed the meal.

I always wonder if I am the same person every time I go on a vacation. Maybe I am not. Could it be that I feel, sense and experience places differently every time I travel. Of course these destinations also change over time; they grow and evolve. If we change and the destinations change. Why not travel to the same place everytime.? Why fool ourselves?

Languages

Malaysia is blessed with many languages. I had been in countries where only one language is spoken widely. How boring. I am so used to hearing or speaking more than I language that I expect it all the time.

I wonder if speaking a language is dangerous for oneself. I never realised this until I watched this video. Judge it for yourself.

SECURITY ALERT: Close your windows

Warning. Your house may be under attack. Danger comes from the most unsuspecting places especially in a tropical country. I saw this sign in an office building in Putrajaya.

The message translated reads "Attention: Please close the window after opening them to prevent a mosquito attack" " Be mindful the next time you open your windows. it can be a security threat!

I am writing a book

I just decided to write a book today. Not just that I will finish writing it at the end of the month. Do wish me luck. If its a lot, its a book. Less is a booklet. Anything smaller will be pamphlet. All tips are welcomed.

Breakfast at IKEA

IKEA serves breakfast! Its been awhile since my last trip to IKEA's cafeteria. I just found out today that they serve a Malaysian breakfast at low prices. For just over a Ringgit (RM1) I had a plate of Mee Goreng with sambal. Its a good portion and tasty too. If you come before 10:00am, you will also get coffee for free! Don't believe it? Check out the photos I took.

ps. The mee portion served is slightly more than shown in the photo. I ate some before realising I should take a photo.

Bank Cheque Deposit Machine

Do you use a cheque deposit machine at the banks? I do. Actually I use it all the time and so far I have no problems. I hope my good luck would not end soon. If lady luck were to leave me, I wonder what kind of problems I can encounter. Would it be that I written the deposit slip in error or the bank could misplace my cheque. When I saw this sign at a bank branch in Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur, I thought its a good problem for me to have.
Banking in a high value cheque into the machine. The sign bank customers not to deposit any cheque above RM10 million in the machine! There must be so many people doing this that they need a warning sign posted.

Ready, Set, Blog!

I had made a decision today. I am going to start a blog. Yes, those things on the web where people start disclosing everything about themselves. I don't think I can do that, I am going to be more discreet. What makes me different? I am going to share some of the things I see, feel and think about as I go about my life. You know, the normal stuff. The things that i come across when I walk the earth.......So which me luck, here it goes......
